Social Enterpreneurship

Di dalam Wikipedia dijelaskan bahwa “A social entrepreneur recognizes a social problem and uses entrepreneurial principles to organize, create and manage a venture to achieve social change (a social venture). While a business entrepreneur typically measures performance in profit and return, a social entrepreneur focuses on creating social capital. Thus, the main aim of social entrepreneurship is to further social and environmental goals. Social entrepreneurs are most commonly associated with the voluntary and not-for-profit sectors, but this need not preclude making a profit. Social entrepreneurship practiced with a world view or international context is called international social entrepreneurship”. (1)

Sedangkan menurut kamus Oxford “Social entrepreneurship refers to the practice of combining innovation, resourcefulness and opportunity to address critical social and environmental challenges.  Social entrepreneurs focus on transforming systems and practices that are the root causes of poverty, marginalization, environmental deterioration and accompanying loss of human dignity.  In so doing, they may set up for-profit or not-for-profit organizations, and in either case, their primary objective is to create sustainable systems change. The key concepts of social entrepreneurship are innovation, market orientation and systems change.” (1)

Menurut Ashoka “Social entrepreneurs are individuals with innovative solutions to society’s most pressing social problems. They are ambitious and persistent, tackling major social issues and offering new ideas for wide-scale change”. (1)

Namun secara garis besar,,

social entrepreneur dapat disimpulkan sebagai sekelompok orang atau individu yang dapat mengetahui atau memahami adanya permasalahan yang di masyarakat, sehingga nantinya denagn menggunakan prinsip-prinsip kewirausahaan, pengorganisasian, mengkreasi dan mengelola sebuah entitas untuk membuat perubahan dan manfaat sosial bagi masyarakat luas. Social entrepreneur adalah sebuah visi kewirausahaan yang berorientasi untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat dan melakukan perbaikan bangsa, selain itu social enterpreneur berfungsi untuk menggunakan kewirausahaan dalam mengatasi permasalahan yang ada dimasyarakat melalui inovasi dan keberlanjutan program.
